peas on earth & lots of cabbage for everybody

we just finished grubbing the first feast of the new year.
delightful.
gathering with beautiful creative spirits is exactly how i hope i'll be spending much of 2008.

i accomplished a few new recipes tonight.
spicy tikka masala Black Eyed Peas
woodear mushroom pilaf
braised red & green cabbage-- the red cabbage tasted of sweet cinnamon and apple cider vinegar, and the green was cooked with hefewiesen beer, creole mustard and crispy smoked tempeh. yummy!

also re-tried a recent favorite, veggy sausage corn bread. it wasn't my best attempt.poor ingredient ratios to blame. imprecise measuring due to over multitasking.

but everything came out all right, if i do say so myself. elias, dharam, lily and simon played with the girls while i cooked.
i must say, it felt so amazing to hear my girls entertaining our guests while i was still preparing the dinner. everyone tonight was so content and warm.
dang row even came to get his good luck peas & cabbage and also debuted his new mullet.

i think i'm going to call it a night while some of warmth is left in the room from the party.
a nice cup of tea and in bed before midnight.
2008 is off to a lovely start.
