so today saw the completion of a loop that has been progressing for sometime now.
this morning, i was called in to interview for a new opportunity with my target employer.
when i arrived, the sweet human resources manager rushed out to meet me to let me know that i should find out as much about the position as possible during my chat with the hiring manager, because, if i chose to accept the assignment, they want me to start tomorrow.
whoa.
okay.
tomorrow.
wow.
it feels like i have been waiting years for this. maybe because i HAVE been waiting years for this.
and now after all this time, tomorrow, i will officially begin my career.
i am very excited. and a bit overwhelmed.
i'm going to go enjoy my time with the girls just now. i know i will be missing them tomorrow.

progress thru effortless effort
buzzed around in the shop today.
went about doing things the best way i know.
lots of cross offs on the old list today.
i hope the team is pleased with the effort.
i am.
dinner: it seems this is becoming a regular feature of this blog so here goes,
miso mixed field greens with raspberries, red onion & humboldt chevre
baked brie & wasabi rice crackers
spicy peas and sausage cornbread
raspberry ginger beer (non-alcoholic)
it seems a bit blah to report eating left overs, so i will try not to do that again.
the brie from last night was worth mentioning, though. it was still a treat tonight.
yesterday i also prepared brunch-feast for visiting family:
Sour dough French Toast with fresh blueberries and vanilla yougurt
complete with organic powdered sugar and maple syrup.
I've kept up with filing job apps and i have another phone interview on monday.
more on that as it develops.
girlbears are getting so big. little teeth, wispy hair, so many funny expressions.
spent so many hours away from them today.
they seem to have changed dramatically while i was gone.
almost one year old...
i could lose myself in contemplating the vastness of time, but sleep beckons.
and i am so happy to surrender.

appetite for life
we trekked out into the green belt with the snuggy boos this afternoon.
we bundled everyone up and strapped them to our backs.
the timing was perfect, we reached a nice cliff just in time for the sunset, where we sipped warm honeybush tea and snacked on Caribbean trail mix and animal cookies.
Garreth and Griselda hiked out to meet us with Bruja, Griselda's dog.
The girls were so happy to see the doggy walking along side us.
i think they really enjoyed taking in the sights along the riverbed and cliffs, even if their noses did get awfully rosy.
i cooked another big dinner for the family guests tonight.
tonight's menu:
cod lyonnaise and pan seared sea scallops
with bergamot rice, steamed greens (beet, kale, rainbow chard) with tahini mustard sauce.
no pictures of tonights meal--we were all too ravenous to pose with our plates.
happy tummies yet again.
ahhh, this is the good life.

garreth & griselda
so happy to meet simon's brother garreth's girlfriend, griselda.
she is an amazing person and very fascinating.
garreth seems to be doing well as he and griselda continue their adventures together.
here are some photos of them from new year's eve day.
griselda played music with the girlbears and later we all took a walk to the park.

peas on earth & lots of cabbage for everybody
we just finished grubbing the first feast of the new year.
delightful.
gathering with beautiful creative spirits is exactly how i hope i'll be spending much of 2008.
i accomplished a few new recipes tonight.
spicy tikka masala Black Eyed Peas
woodear mushroom pilaf
braised red & green cabbage-- the red cabbage tasted of sweet cinnamon and apple cider vinegar, and the green was cooked with hefewiesen beer, creole mustard and crispy smoked tempeh. yummy!
also re-tried a recent favorite, veggy sausage corn bread. it wasn't my best attempt.poor ingredient ratios to blame. imprecise measuring due to over multitasking.
but everything came out all right, if i do say so myself. elias, dharam, lily and simon played with the girls while i cooked.
i must say, it felt so amazing to hear my girls entertaining our guests while i was still preparing the dinner. everyone tonight was so content and warm.
dang row even came to get his good luck peas & cabbage and also debuted his new mullet.
i think i'm going to call it a night while some of warmth is left in the room from the party.
a nice cup of tea and in bed before midnight.
2008 is off to a lovely start.
